Norsemen Hold The Line⚔️

This game was the late Friday night game and unfortunately with the bleachers/stands closed for repairs the fans were exposed to the dampness at the ground level. This dampness could make the body ache and anyone uncomfortable very quickly.

In spite of this environment the game began promptly at 8:30PM with a kick off from the Giants. This was returned for about 70 yards by Kingston Pappas (#5). It looked like the Norsemen were going to dominate again but instead they were stopped by the stubborn Giants defense.

Then the Norsemen defence went to work and delivered QB sacks by Frederic Muipatayl (#52) and Daniel Damaren (#44) . Daniel was also involved in 2 other tackles that ended the Giant’s series of downs.

A bad punt by the Giants resulted in them being held deep in their end. From this position Charles Guei (#15) plowed his way to a TD which was converted by Jean Marc Thompson Deschamps (#10).First Quarter – Giants 0 – Norsemen 7

The 2nd quarter began with Daniel Damaren #44; who had a strong first half, getting another QB sack but then it was a back and forth defensive battle until the Giants broke free with a few good runs and struck for a TD which they converted for 2 points.

This was the first time the Norsemen had fallen behind this year. How would his adversity affect them? Is this a sign of an impending loss? The Giants good defensive play and the penalties given to the Norsemen prevented the Norsemen  from scoring any points in this quarter.  

Second Quarter Giants 8 – Norsemen 7       

The third quarter was highlighted by the Norsemen running game which saw Joshua Olubajo (#2)   in 3 runs take the ball from about the 40 yd line of the Giants to their end zone for a TD.

Then Kingston Pappas (#5) ran though the line for a 2 point conversion.

Third Quarter – Giants 8 – Norsemen 15

The 4th quarter was devastating for the Giants who had to this point battled well and kept the score close. While deep in their end a pass was picked off by Shadvantay Watt (#18) who promptly ran 20 yards into their end zone for a TD which was converted by #10.

This was not all – during the next Giant series another pass was intercepted but this time by Vuc Stojnic (#7) who ran it to the Giants 20 yard line.

After a few attempts, Aidan Levett (#21) ran for the TD which was again converted by #10. A missed field goal by the Norsemen gave the Giants another chance but by now the Norsemen defense had adjusted and stopped the Giants to regain possession. Charles Guei then in 3 carries had the Norsemen deep in the Giants end but there was no other scoring.

FINAL SCORE – Giants 8 – Norsemen 29.

If anything this game and the previous game have shown that the Varsity level teams have improved and adjusted their play to be much more competitive halfway through the regular season.

Ultimately this means the games scores will be closer, the games more exciting and the challenges for the Norsemen much greater. Be ready!
