Riders Charge. Norsemen Hold. ⚔️

On this evening when the moon and seven sisters were visible in the East and the weather was perfect for football the Norsemen started as they did last game. In spite of the fact that, in first place, they are now the target for all Varsity teams they continue to dominate this level and their undefeated season stayed intact on this night. Can the Norsemen continue this level of play? What do you think?

On with the recap. The opening kick off by the Riders was returned in the first drive by the Norsemen for a  converted touchdown. The Rider defense was pressuring the offense and preventing any passes in this first drive which meant our QB, Gabriel Zammar (#9 ) needed to run the football twice to obtain first downs to keep the drive alive.

Then two other players, Joshua Olubajo (#2) and Aidan Levett (#21) had runs and combined these four runs positioned the ball so the QB could run for a touchdown which was converted by Jean Marc Thompson Deschamps (#10).

This first TD was  scored with only 2:55 left in the first quarter.                                            

End of First Norsemen 7 – Riders 0.

The second quarter saw the Riders pushing deep into the Norsemen end but a fumble recovered by Noah Shirey (#4) changed the possession. The QB then threw a 40 yard pass to Kingston Pappas and a subsequent 25 yard run by Charles Guei (#15) resulted in our second TD which again was converted by #10.

After the kick the Norsemen defense halted the Riders drive when Daniel Demaren (#44) and Nathanael Anna (#92) combined to tackle a Rider player for a huge 10 yard loss.

The offensive line had started slow but now began to provide great protection for their QB and after this change of possession #21 ran for 15yd, #2 for 20 yards and finally #9 for15 yd and the third Norsemen TD which was again converted by #10. The half ended with a tremendous tackle by #35 after the kick.

End of half – Norsemen 21 – Riders 0

The Norsemen kicked to open the second half and  #44 tackled the receiver deep in their end. The Riders then began a series of passes that worked so well they were on the Norsemen 10 yd line @ 6:37.Then it was one pass too many because it was intercepted by Vuk Stojnic (#7) but the offense was stalled and the ball was punted.

This punt returner was met by #5 and #35 near center and stopped cold. On their second down at about the 48 yd line a fumble was recovered by Brett Proudfoot (#90).

A run by #15 again positioned the ball so #9 could run for his 3rd touchdown of the game but this TD was not converted. On the kick off Shadvantay Watt (#18) tackled the receiver on their own 20 yard line.

End of Third – Norsemen 27 – Riders 0

The fourth quarter after the Riders were forced to punt the ball the Norsemen decided to rest the QB #9 and replaced him with Kingston Pappas #5. Unfortunately the switch was short lived as #5  was injured after 2 plays and #9 was put back in. Then Charlie Derrick (#35) had 3 consecutive runs for 15 ,15,& 2 yd but then the Norsemen had to punt. Following the punt once again a Rider pass was intercepted by Shadvantay Watt #18.

After this interception the Norsemen were stopped and punted the football into the Riders end zone where the receiver was tackled for a 1 point touchback. This quarter ended when the Norsemen took a knee with 18 seconds left.
