THE SAGA.THE BATTLE. THE GRIND… CONTINUES⚔️

SEMI-FINAL GAME – Myers Riders vs Bel-Air Norsemen – Oct 24/25 – Sportsplex – 6:30pm

The Varsity semi-final pitted the fourth place Myers Riders against the first place (undefeated)   Bel-Air Norsemen Although the skies were full of threatening clouds it did not rain but it was a damp, cool evening.

The Riders did the opening kick – off and once again the Norsemen obtained a TD on their first drive. After receiving on the Norsemen 40 yd line it appeared the Riders would be successful in stopping them after two consecutive losses of yards however Aidan Levett (#21) made a 35 yard run that kept the drive alive.

This was followed by a long TD pass from Gabriel Zammar to Owen Asbury (#6) which was converted by Jean-Marc Thompson Deschamps (#10).

This happened 5 min. after the game had started. Then it got interesting. In spite of a tackle by Daniel Damaren  ( #44) in the backfield and two blocked passes by (#54) the Riders were still able with 2 long passes through the center of the field to get deep in the Norsemen end. Then a few consecutive penalties and the Riders were on the goal line.

The Norsemen stopped 2 runs and then Ethan Hutton (#20) intercepted a pass to relieve the pressure at the end of the first.

End of First Norsemen 7 – Riders 0

Again as in last game the Norsemen offense exploded for 3 TDs in the second quarter. After obtaining possession to start the 2nd quarter a pass to #21 obtained a first down. Then the QB #9 faked a pass and ran 60 yards for a TD which was converted by #10.

Then after kicking and regaining possession due to the strong defensive play the Norsemen had a series of runs – 2 – ]25yd &1st,  #9 -1st,  #2-1st and then #2 ran for a TD converted by #10. The defense again stopped the Riders and Kane Flemming (#40) then blocked the punt on the Riders 20 yd line.

The Norsemen took possession and on a subsequent run #15 high jumped over a defender to score a TD that was converted by #10 with 1:45 left in the half.

End of Second Norsemen 28 – Riders 0.

The third began with the clock running due to the score and after the kick the Riders took possession but fumbled the ball on a play and it was recovered by Omar Mohammad (#8) on their 38 yard line.

This set up a pass from #9 to #5 for another TD which was converted by #10.

When the Riders gained possession Nathanael Anna sacked the QB for a 10 yard loss and resulted in Myers surrendering the ball after their 4th down.

The next Norsemen series saw Charles Guei     (#15) power through the line and run down the sideline for a 65 yard TD which again was converted by #10. late in the 3rd quarter a pass by the Riders was intercepted by #8 on the Riders 45 yd line.

This was followed by a 20 yd run by #21 to end the quarter.

End of Third Norsemen 42 – Riders 0

The start of the fourth saw a different QB #5 who continued with a handoff to #21 who ran for a TD which was once again converted. The subsequent Norsemen kick off was dropped by the Riders and recovered by Nicholas Andrews and then Chalie Derrick (#35) obtained a first down.

The Norsemen finished this series with a field goal by #10. Suddenly the game was over.

Final score Norsemen 52 – Riders 0

This was a statement game for the Bel-Air Norsemen. The Norsemen want to battle in the Championship game and were not going to be denied. They are ready. Are you?

The defense continues to stop all challenges and the offense overcomes any challenges  to be a dominant force at the Varsity level. Can they do it one more time? You be the judge.
