GAME 8 – Bel-Air Norsemen @ North Gloucester Giants- Oct 17/25 – Sportsplex – 8:30pm

This final Norsemen regular season game started around 9pm due to the extensive overtime in the early game between Kanata 10 and Myers 7.

Although it was cooler at this time of the evening it was perhaps the best all round game played by the Bel-Air Norsemen. The offense exploited the weaknesses of the Giants defense and the Norsemen defense crushed the Giants offense. This game capped a perfect regular season for the Bel-Air Norsemen with a 42 – 0 win.

The next step is upon the Norsemen now that they begin the elimination playoffs where they must win or their season ends. The semi final game is expected to be Oct 24th at the Sportsplex @ 6:30pm… Now the recap.

The Giants kicked off to the Norsemen to start the game and as in previous games the first drive resulted in a Norsemen touchdown. The return was taken to the Giants 45 yard line by Kingston Pappas (#5) then he ran for another first down. The next 2 runs by Aidan Levett (#21) were for 9 yards and 11 plus yards for a first down.

Then Charles Guei (#15) ran for another first  down which put the Norsemen deep in the Giants end. Then with 8:30 left in the first quarter Gabriel Zammar (#9) made a perfect pass to Kingston Pappas (#5) for a TD which was converted by Jean Marc Thompson Deschamps (#10).

The Norsemen kick off special team trapped the Giants deep in their end and the Norsemen defense forced the Giants to punt after attempting both runs and passes. Then the Norsemen started their second drive. Charles Guei (#15) ran for 25 yards and then ran for another first down which was followed by another first by #5. The QB (#9) then kept the ball and ran for a TD with 3:14 left in the first. This was converted by #10. The Giants offense then tried 3 passes that were stopped by the defensive play of Nathanael Anna (#92) , Omar Mohammad (#8) & Shadvantay Watt(#18), and Jean Marc Thompson Deschamps (#10).

End of the first Norsemen 14 – Giants 0

The Norsemen scoring pace only increased in the 2nd quarter. It started after the punt with two consecutive 20 yard runs by Joshua Olubajo (#2) and then two runs by #15 for8 and 10 yards.

These were followed by what seemed to be a surprise 20 yard pass to Brett Proudfoot (#90) who then ran for a TD converted again by #10. The Norsemen defense Daniel Damaren (#44) then forced the Giants into a 10 yard loss which was followed by Noah Shirey (#4) forcing another 5 yard loss.

After the punt the offense put together another great drive with 15 yd (#2), 15yd (#21),20 yd (#2),and then a run by #21 for a TD again converted. But the second was not over.  A Giant’s pass was intercepted by Ethan Hutton (#20) with 2:04 left in the half.  Again the offensive drive was unstoppable with a 20 yd run by #21 and then a TD run by Charlie Derrick (#35) which was also converted (#10).

End of the Second Norsemen 35 – Giants 0

Due to the score the clock was to run without stops in the second half. The Norsemen kicked and when the Giants only needed 2 yards for a first after their first down the defense showed their mettle. The Giants were stopped by #18 and then for a loss by Liam West (#28) forcing them to punt on the fourth down. After the return #15 ran for 15yd and then a TD converted by #10.

End of third Norsemen 42 – Giants 0

In the fourth the highlights were a huge tackle by Hayden Bourre (#99) and an interception with a 40 yd run by Vuk Stojnic but when the clock runs the game ends quickly and there are fewer plays.

End of the fourth and Final score
Norsemen 42 – Giants 0

During the game there were a number of possible interceptions in addition to the 2 actual interceptions by the Norsemen. The strength of this team lies in the defense which has only allowed 14 points in 8 games while the offense allowed 1 point (total 15).

The offense is also a huge part of this team’s strength because they have outscored the closest opposition by more than double the points (250 vs 112) and has many scoring options as shown in this game where 6 different players earned TDs.

Now the real test. Can the team keep going in the next elimination games? I believe – Do you?
